A Path of Reconciliation?

Do you think that part of the hesitation to Hear and become Aware of the ugly history, is the corresponding [eventual] need to admit that Indigenous Peoples were (still are) Human, and [still do] have amazing qualities (i.e. understanding of symbiotic relationship to all, aka pure Love; the attraction of so many ‘white Retreats’ since the 1960s).  

Perhaps in that awareness, there’s too much [understandable] pain for what their own ancestors did … too much to accept and admit to … too much to overcome.  The Awareness makes a descendent of oppressors feel non-human and accountable for the atrocities?

Why do we ASK for someone to admit being inhumane?

Why do us-originals of this Land ASK to [finally] be acknowledged AS human … dare we utter ‘equals’ in relative-IT-y? There was a time [before 500 yrs of self-worth inquisition] when we’d LAUGH at these ridiculous questions. We had no language to enable thinking our selves to be separate from Relativity and thus forgetting our divinity within all existing. We had to be taught a new language of self-loathing!

Are we at an impasse to begin with, because to admit that [indigenous] Other is human is to admit that my ancestor’s Actions were clearly not humanE?
Is it subconsciously too much to handle, to even begin to consider a ‘reconciliation’? Better to successfully ignore / hide and [now rapidly failing] attempt to leave the past buried?

The decision, as you wisely suggest Anton:   “whether to ReNew, or Release the relationship”, if not to Adapt through a more Inclusive (supportive) way forward toGetHer [to ReNew], but instead to Release … is really more so an continuance in denial [there’s too much history to recover from] and a subconscious admission [that we beLIEve we are Not equal within Relative-IT-y; sorry A.Einstein you got ‘it’ wrong].

I can speak directly to this truth, with indescribable pain for what 3/8ths of my GG ancestors did to the 5/8ths I’m so very proud of.

My opinion of one possible way forward …

Study the 1900s trend to reclaim specific Euro origin (as clan) and ditch the generic Class [i-fication] of ‘White’, which implies ‘ruling colonizing Class’, seems [to me] to be an admission by ancestors from 1900s that to be associated with a Colonizing ugly past, was too much to bear and admit.  Now present day, the connection [full memory of] to history seems lost 3 generations later, becoming “how dare you assume my GG parents were part of that ugliness!”, as they learn about true history for the 1st time. “Blame it on the Calvary. My ancestors were just riding the innocent wagon train.”

For me, I listen to how someone introduces their self to feel this painful history (for both sides).

Pretty common for someone to attach an ethnic/cultural origin to their intro now.  I do so proudly, frequently having to speak also to the ugly part of my own lineage.  I’m not bad mouthing my Euro origin.  I’m admitting to known specific bad behavior and action, for ‘my specific ancestors’.

I often hear … “I’m so and so, a proud _____ Irishmen, Pole, Scot, etc.” When I sincerely inquire on their Ancestors, they usually know very little beyond common folklore and stereotypes.

Or someone says nothing of [un]known origin, merging into the unaccountable mass in an attempt to hide and avoid hisStory. “I’m aMerican”, whatever that means.

My interpretation of both scenarios is a silent admission that “I’m a descendant from some other Land, unwilling [unable] to admit that I am the true ‘Occupier’ of these Lands [not my own]”.

Remember that because Indigenous Peoples were [still are] stewards of 🌎 which provides lovingly and graciously for ALL human and more-than-human existing [and She could never be ‘owned’], we were labeled ‘Occupants’ and not owners [with Euro-traceable land Title].

I’ve noticed far more people visiting their true homelands lately, unapologetically and not just as a ‘curious Vacation’. They seem to be searching for their own true cultural identity.

Beginning of an admission of foreign occupation and [religious beLIEf in a right of] domination? Could be a very beautiful adaptation in progress?

Maybe w’re on a path to [re]union on Turtle I’sLand, one that begins with an old reMembering of who we Were before the Monarchs brutalized our ⭕️riginal ways of Natural living in balance with Mother 🌎, each in our Original Lands?

The ‘U’SA is a land without unifying culture, and labeling our way into unity is illusion. States vs Federal becoming apparent, eventually everyone vs everyone, unUnited.  Overturn of Roe vs Wade, the 9 kings reclaiming full rights of the bodies of all Women!   Wow, we think we’re progressive, evolving so far as a species.  AnyThing-butt!
