If you’ve spent time with David, you know why he utters various mantras.   They serve as part of Remembering and Reminding others, of just how Supportive and Simple it is to Live life.   “No living must be Earned”.   ; )

The more Mutually Exclusive we behave, the more Collectively Exhausted Society becomes
Until we find a consistent way on-going to Share Reality with each other, our tendency to focus on Efficiency and self-Survival, blinds individuals from supporting the best interest of “our village” and might very well bring an END to our Thriving as a Society.

Awakened Leaders are witnessing the prevailing problem, and are beginning to incubate a culture that Thrives by obsessing over how best to support Society, rather than just Surviving on short-term valuations of their ‘organizing’ activity and obsessing over so-called “competitors”.

MECE is a Mckinsey consulting term.   I’ve repurposed it, to represent the risk of prevailing human behavior, to some extent, born by the use of the MECE consulting technique, in the pursuit of short-term valuations of organizations.MECE. by Victor Cheng. MECE (pronounced “me see”) is principle often used by management consulting firms such as McKinsey to describe a way of organizing information that is “Mutually Exclusive, Collectively Exhaustive”.

Context is King, while the King is [trying to] Retiring

Amidst attempts to become more Inclusive and Adaptive as Organization’s trying to sincerely own their Causes, the “change agent” must be allowed to “float among” the formerly Loyal Subjects, or nothing will change.   Federated empowerment begins with a role modeling of a new entitlement, in the absence of outwardly and formally granted change of Title.

Stop seeking Status Updates from those who ultimately need your Support and NOT your coercion.

Instead, enable a safe environment for commitments to be offered and accepted between Teams.

Leadership at scale works best when Teams receiving work requests behave more like 4 year olds, and delivery leaders behave more like teenagers
LOL.   Why?   A 4 year old child is incredibly curious about WHY things are the way they are, and WHY they are being asked to do something.   A teenager, impatient to grow up and be treated like an adult, sighs constantly asking “Are we there yet?   Can we be done now?   I have other things to do.”

This mutually supportive relationship of

  1.  Let’s be clear on what we’re trying to accomplish, so we can offer the minimal amount of effort to deliver the underlying desired Value (MVP,MVS).
  2. As we are asked to do work, let’s ask WHY until we really understand one another.

When we forget this crucial bi-directional relationship of influence and shared accountability, we wind up behaving mutually exclusive, and collectively we become exhausted.  MECE reference for you Consultants.  ; )

Let's try to stay out of the Inbox and learn to live in the Backlog
Asynchronous communication is good for Known priorities in progress, or for shaping un prioritized work as part of an In-Take process.   The Email Inbox follows a Last In First Out (LIFO) behavior pattern.   The inbox does not encourage coordination as a Team, favoring individual, ad hoc prioritization of what gets attention by when.   Decisions are usually more subjective in the inbox.   They are certainly sub optimized and increase Wait times because individuals are pursuing personal interests.

Backlogs in Lean-Agile insist on clear Exit criteria vetted by the Team, in determining whether something deserves / gets attention and is progressed further.   Backlogs use a Stack prioritization, where the First item at the top of the list represents the Highest priority (determined as relative Value over Effort).   Backlogs follow a synchronous First In [and approved] First Out (FIFO).   Decisions are always objective and economically based, in the Backlog.

We Evolve through Intuition and Dissolve through Speculation

The more we Include one another, the more aware we become of our inherent Connection, to ALL of Life.   Remembering our connection, Compels us to Include one an-other in the “daily plans and retrospective”.

Look at your Team, “the strangers passing by”, the tree that makes breathing possible … Thats YOU!

We KNEW as children, our inherent connection, well before we were taught the language which would, by Life’s design, propel US into Intellecutal Speculation, Analysis and Denial of that connection.

Let’s use tactics to “bridge the adult Intuition” once again, so we Remember and HONOR our Connection.

Don’t fight what is [currently].   Make it obsolete, by reinstating what once was [pure knowing].   Sunsetting the “systems of separation” is truly Living Well.

By example, the Lean-Agile coaching / consulting David participates in, serves to “Bridge the Intuition of ALL through the Backlog”.   Decisions ultimately leverage Intuition, as they should, for reasons suggested above.   How to include the Intuition of EVERY-one, becomes the question.   Scaling Adaptive Leadership capacity is one approach.  ; )

Empowerment comes from Awareness-born Connection of how things truly Are and Could Be

Each person must directly witness, Feel and Affirm this understanding of what is desired by “the group”, otherwise known as a Vision->Mission->Strategy pursuit.

Everyone MUST have line of sight and the mutual right to influence this Shared Vision, or there will be NO Commitment and Accountability to GROUP-oriented outcomes.

One of the way’s David chooses to assist Life by reducing the inertia of “living in separation and self-survival”, is to help the Lean-Agile Global movement.

A smile wouldn’t exist with out an occasional frown

A smile wouldn’t exist with out an occasional frown … both are the same when viewed upside down.

Contrast is required to detect anything.   Life’s goal of Existing and Knowing, through shared and affirmed experiences, OR disconnected denials, compels all Life action.

Cheer up!   The downside of today’s frown is the upside towards a future smile.

Vulnerability underlies sustainable greatness.

People only follow those who Inspire.  Honesty underlies any great collective shift in Mindset.  

A potential Leader must “get real” – be honest about their own disconnects from a truly Shared Reality – before they can even consider divulging their own disconnections publicly.  

Deep down, people know we are all “imperfect”.   No-one expects a flawless record.   Everyone DOES expect more honesty these days [in this era of Convergence].   Empowered [people who lead/support others] people only follow those with genuine, inspiring causes, offering no sugar coating about the difficulties ahead as the Vision materializes.
