The Eagle
Beginning with detailed, 1st person (Eagle eye) vantage point dreaming from age 5 to 10. Then many adults commenting on how oddly frequent the visits were to his house/block … hummingbirds, hawks, and even the rare “urban Eagle”.
David was severely troubled how he, AS the bird of flight, was consistently trapped by the power lines and shot at by people who coveted his feathers apparently. Nightmares went unexplained for years. All became crystal clear in one moment however.
The Hummingbird
David begins also to see Hummingbirds often. His mother would comment how odd it was to see them around him so often. In his backyard, at the park, on walks to school. He’d often lose track of time, trying to hear every beat of their wings. Glancing eye to eye. They seemed to ‘accompany him’. Who was admiring whom? An arrogant pondering, or total awareness of what IS, at such a young age?
