David begins to have vivid dreams of a young Native girl. She wore one of two outfits. Two symbols would occupy david’s Heart. He began to draw them frequently, pondering what he was being asked to Remember.
He would be told a few years later, his true Anishinaabe origin with visits from Namid (his matrilineal Great grandmother) informing him that he must continue to carry a painful secret from his ancestors. The little girl was his grandmother, name hidden and unknown, dying soon after giving birth to his mother Linda.

He drew the plus symbol thousands of times, always favoring the right side, and stacking the plus symbols. In his 40s, he realized that he was witnessing the right-facing Hindu Swastika, not to be confused with the intentionally inverted version used by the Nazi party of Germany WWII. Life was reaching out, offering him a reminding from the East, seemingly nestled within his DNA.
As he began to stack the plus symbols, upward and to the right, he understood why he saw the other image (in his mind, Heart) of the Native girl wearing a belt with three Diamonds. This was an affirmation of his deep knowing, reinstantiating into his Life at a very young age.
David’s Lakota friend and artist, painted the only picture (as a drawing) of his Grand Mother (name unknown to this day) secretly offered by his Mother on David’s 7th birthday, and affirmed in January of 2024 to actually be his biological Grand Mother.
David would be affirmed by a genealogist from Canada in January of 2024, offering him 2 pictures and 1 drawing of his Matrilineal ancestry dating back to approximately 1880s. Amazing!
