At age 5, David began swimming for a team in his home town of Wyoming Michigan, called the Wyoming Yahoo’s, with a mascot of what looked like Micky Mouse in cowboy western attire riding a dolphin breaking water. He loved the look of the dolphin and disliked cowboy Micky but couldn’t identify why. He’d soon figure out why. As David took lap swim, hour after hour, year after year, culminating in approximately 5,000 miles swam between age 5 and 18, readying him for a near death experience in a Daytona FL beach rip current, he began to Remember something nestled deep within his DNA. The Feel of a gentle rain falling on his back during summer lap swim outside and the sound of the current rushing by his ears, helped him to remember how his ancestors survived the Indigenous Genocide of North America, beginning around 1492 and unfortunately still very much active in 2020. He often felt a presence with him as he swam. It was slightly above him, resting on his back, brining him to chills in the warm outdoor summer waters. He remembers a word surfacing repeatedly … “Flow” …. “just flow”. Which didn’t fit the competitive time-driven, highly individualistic environment. He’d frustrate coaches often, seeming a bit lazy or too relaxed when he should have been “building up his strength”. David realized later in life, that the energy presence was his paternal Great Great grandfather Mamasinijiwan (meaning “flowing waters”). He was being Reminding by his GGGfather, “not to succumb to the baptism of manUnkind” [who ConCeives him self to be alone, apart, afraid, and a one-time manifestation]”.
Every Thing in Event, is offered to us-apart, as a potential Reminding of our Connection [as one]. Somehow, David was born into a state of a totally silent mind, empowering him to Observe Life’s intricate symbiotic relationship (as One). His senses were heightened, blessing him with the ability to directly witness and remember the connection between all Happenings and the offering of an explanation, for Why all is happening and towards what goal [of existing and knowing]. Perhaps the solitude of the pool, and the absence of a Competitive Vibe of this individualistic (rather than us vs them Team) sport, helped him to Sense “what is”. GGGma and GGma’s story of escape from the trail of tears.
